Every blend,
dialled in.
Skin fades, tapers, beard work and line-ups at The Refinery on Riverside Drive, Sudbury. Book the chair in under a minute.
Walk-ins depend on the chair being free. Booking ahead is the only way to be sure.
The list
Cuts & prices
Every service published with what it costs and how long it takes. A price that only exists in a DM is a price nobody can search for.
Haircut
$35Clippers and scissors, washed and styled. Cut to how your hair actually falls, not to a picture.
Skin Fade
$40Bald at the skin, blended clean through the guards. Low, mid or high — your call in the chair.
Beard Trim
$20Shaped, lined out and softened at the edges. Hot towel first, oil after.
Cut & Beard
$50The full sit-down. Haircut and beard shaped together so the lines actually meet.
- Hot Towel Shave$35
- Kids Cut (under 12)$25
- Line-Up$15
Booking
A request, not a calendar
One chair, one barber, and a phone that gets answered between cuts. A live calendar would be wrong within an hour of the first walk-in, so the form asks for a request and Amit confirms it himself.
- 01
Your name
Nothing else identifying, and no account to create.
- 02
Your mobile number
“I text back to confirm — that’s the only thing I use it for.”
- 03
What are you after?
The seven services, priced in the dropdown, plus “not sure — help me pick”.
- 04
Preferred day
A date, not a slot. The slot is agreed in the reply.
- 05
Rough time
Morning, early afternoon, late afternoon, evening.
- 06
Send on WhatsApp or by email
Two buttons, one prefilled message, no backend queue to go stale.
The promise on the form
“It isn’t booked until you hear from me.”
Said in the shop’s own words, on the booking page. Software that promises a slot it cannot hold costs a customer who turns up to a locked door. Software that is honest about being a request costs a text message.

Before you book
Six questions, answered in the first line
The guides exist because people type these as searches. Each one answers the question before it explains itself, which is the only format that survives being read on a phone outside the shop.

Published with its own caveat
The live site says these hours “haven’t been double-checked yet” and asks you to ring before you set off. That sentence stays on the page until Amit confirms the week — an uncertain fact published as certain is how a customer ends up at a locked door, and how a Google Business Profile ends up fighting its own website.

Amit Blends: Freelance client engagement: site build, local SEO and content structure
01
One barber, one chair, and a business that lived in DMs
Amit Blends is one operator at The Refinery on Riverside Drive in Greater Sudbury. Everything ran through Instagram: no published prices, no published hours, and no way to ask for a slot except a DM that gets read between cuts.
The competition for 'barber near me' in Sudbury is not other websites, it is Google's local pack. A shop without structured data, without consistent hours and without a page per service is not eligible for the thing that actually sends walk-in customers.
There was also a trap to avoid. The obvious build is a booking system with a live calendar and online payment. For a single chair with one person in it, that calendar is wrong within an hour of the first unexpected walk-in, and a customer who paid for a slot that no longer exists is a worse outcome than no booking system at all.
02
What izzylabs built
A 21-page Astro site with static output, built around the two things a local service business is actually judged on: what it costs, and whether you can get a slot.
01
A booking request, not a booking
Name, mobile, service, preferred day, rough time band and a notes field, which sends on WhatsApp or by email. The form says outright: 'Send a request and I'll text you back to confirm. It isn't booked until you hear from me.' It is slower than a calendar and it is never wrong, which for one chair is the correct trade.
02
Seven services, each with a price, a duration and its own page
Haircut $35 / 45 min, Skin Fade $40 / 50 min, Beard Trim $20 / 25 min, Cut & Beard $50 / 70 min, Hot Towel Shave $35, Kids Cut $25, Line-Up $15. Published, not quoted on request — 'how much does a haircut cost in Sudbury' is a real search and the shop now answers it.
03
Structured data as the main deliverable
A Person and LocalBusiness JSON-LD graph with an Offer per service, priceCurrency CAD and areaServed Greater Sudbury. For a single-location service business this is the highest-leverage on-page work there is, and it was the gap.
04
Eight direct-answer guides
Beard neckline placement, what a haircut costs in Sudbury, how often to get a cut, how to ask for a fade, taper versus fade, walk-in or book ahead, tipping a barber in Canada, and Sudbury winter hair. Each one is a question people type, answered in the first paragraph rather than after four hundred words of preamble.
05
Hours published with their own caveat
The hours table carries an on-page note that the times have not been double-checked and asks the visitor to ring first. Publishing an uncertain fact as certain is how a business ends up with a locked door and a one-star review, so the uncertainty is on the page until Amit confirms it.
06
Real photography only
The gallery is the shop's own work — 'Real cuts from my chair. No stock photos, no filters.' A barbershop selling on stock imagery is selling somebody else's haircut.

Where it got to
Live, static, and structured — 23 URLs in the sitemap covering every service, every guide and the booking page, with the local-business markup a single-location shop needs to be eligible for the pack.
Ranking and booking figures need a claimed Google Business Profile and Search Console, neither of which exists yet. Those are on the manual list, not in this column.
